Seeing so many smiling faces during preseason training is pretty much unheard of, but that was the result of the first session under Halifax RUFC's new coaching team.
Nearly 40 men and a handful of the ladies squad came along to Ovenden Park on Tuesday, with fitness coach Matt Bradley and defence coach Gareth Matthews taking charge, while forwards coach Dean Cotton and backs coach Phil Gallagher looked on with keen interest.
There was a real positive vibe throughout the session, despite the hard work that comes with preseason, with those in attendance really buying into the new era at the club.
And the overwhelming consensus was that the players couldn't wait for the next session on Thursday (7pm) - and it is not often you hear that when fitness is included.
Here are some of the comments from the guys...
"Fantastic first session, really impressed with the effort and numbers."
"Great session. Great numbers as well. With still loads to come back surely. You're missing out lads!"
"Was good to move my legs again! Great session. Good to be back"
"A really positive start to pre-season for us great turn out and let's have the same again on Thursday!"
"Absolutely loved training #oneclub #halifaxrufc"
"Really good start I hope it carries on!"
"Amazing session... great to see so many smiling faces at the end despite having worked so hard. Really impressed with the new coaches too. Will be good to see how Thursday goes."
The great turnout, a record since the club returned to grassroots rugby, meant the coaches were able to get so much work down - with Gallagher and Cotton both keen to see the same numbers when the skills and drills sessions get under way in a couple of weeks.
If you missed out on Tuesday or are interested in joining Halifax RUFC, then pop along on Thursday at 7pm for the next session.
